Hamburg

The 'Venice of North' will enchant visitors with the banks of the Elbe, the Alster lake and a total of 2,653 bridges, but there is much more to see: Germany's second-largest city is a major hub of industry and media. Visitors will not want to miss a tour of the port, a walk along the Binnenalster lake in the city centre or a look at the city's most famous – and notorious – street, the Reeperbahn. Hamburg is also the site of one of Germany's most interesting construction projects – the historic Speicherstadt warehouse complex is being renovated with a new building to house the Elbphilharmonie.
